Sports Complex - Futsal/Pickleball
This project will enhance the Physical Education program offerings by constructing a multi-use basketball/futsal court with an additional eight pickleball courts on the southeast portion of campus.
A community and campus asset, the courts will be open to students and the surrounding EVC community. There will be associated site work necessary to provide ADA access to the courts. Viewing patios may be included in the construction with a new patio at MS3 and adjacent to the tennis courts for public use during games.
Construction is projected for completion in August 2021.

Next Month’s Milestones: Installation of the utility infrastructure will continue. It is anticipated that work on the foundation and structural steel will begin.
Construction Updates: Current and upcoming work includes installation of shade structures, bleacher slab concrete pouring, installation of wing walls, continued installation of shade structures, continued irrigation installation and drainage, digging foundation for viewing patio, and digging for dry-stack footing.

CEQA: At the October Board of Trustees meeting the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) study and recommendations were approved.
Next Month’s Milestones: An award will be made by the Board of Trustees to the recommended contractor at the next board meeting. The Bond Team will issue a construction contract and prepare the site for construction.
CEQA: A Notice of Determination (NOD) will be filed with the county clerk after the Sports Complex project construction bid is awarded by the Board. The county clerk will post the NOD for 30 days to allow for statute of limitations to challenge the District’s project approval on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) adequacy of the Mitigated Negative Declaration.

Past Month’s Accomplishments: Design has been under Division of the State Architect (DSA) review since June. It is anticipated that DSA approval will be received in October. The team reviewed project budget and estimates to ensure proper funding.
CEQA: Advertised the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for public comment from mid-August to mid-September 2020. No public comments were received. Developed and finalized the Mitigated Monitoring Reporting Program.
Next Month’s Milestones: Finalize DSA review and construction budget. Advertise for construction bid.
CEQA: Submit the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration and Mitigated Monitoring and Reporting Program for review by the Board of Trustees at the October Board Meeting. A closed Board session will take place for final review.
